WHO WE SERVE

This space was built for you.

You might work in a school, a hospital, a courtroom, a shelter, a community center, a newsroom, or a family home. You might have a title or you might not. But if your work requires you to show up for other people’s hardest moments, day after day, inside systems that were not designed to take care of you, OFC was built with you in mind.

“What they share is not their industry. It is their wound. And their wound, it turns out, has the same root.”

People doing this work across many sectors have found a home here.

OFC holds a big tent by design. Care workers from different industries find each other in OFC spaces, and what they discover is that the wound is shared, even when the workplace is not. Here is who we have held, and who we welcome.

  • Educators: teachers, school counselors, administrators, paraprofessionals

  • Healthcare workers: nurses, physicians, community health workers, patient advocates

  • Mental health clinicians: therapists, social workers, crisis counselors, case managers

  • Community organizers and advocates: nonprofit staff, movement workers, civic leaders

  • Coaches and healing practitioners: life coaches, wellness providers, somatic practitioners

  • DEI and racial justice professionals: diversity officers, equity trainers, ERG leaders

  • Corrections, reentry, and probation workers: those rebuilding lives inside and beyond incarceration

  • First responders:  firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers

  • Legal professionals:  public defenders, legal aid and immigration attorneys, civil rights lawyers

  • Early childhood & family services workers:  Head Start staff, home visitors, family support specialists

  • Clergy, chaplains, and spiritual care workers:  across all faith traditions and settings

  • Humanitarian and aid workers: NGO staff, refugee resettlement, disaster relief workers

  • Family and unpaid caregivers: those caring for aging parents, children with disabilities, loved ones in crisis

  • Journalists and documentary makers: those covering trauma, injustice, and human suffering

ARE YOU A "CAREGIVER"?

You belong here at OFC, if....

You may not call yourself a caregiver. You may not use words like burnout or vicarious trauma to describe what you’re carrying. You might just know that something that used to feel like a calling now feels like a weight, and you can’t remember the last time someone asked how you were doing and actually meant it.

✔  You have given everything you have inside institutions that were not designed to sustain you.

✔  You carry the weight of communities that systems have underserved or harmed.

✔  You came into this work because you believed it mattered. And you still do, even when it’s hard.

✔  You work in direct service of other people’s lives, their learning, their health, their safety, their rights, their future.

✔  You are tired in a way that a vacation cannot fix.

✔  You are ready, not to escape from your life, but to return to yourself within it.
